Pursuing CAS

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

The IB program is known for being rigorous. Though stress may be unavoidable, I believe that the CAS activities are the most forgiving out of all the requirements. Think of it as a diary where we can express ourselves and discuss our achievements and service to our communities. This sounds like sunshine and rainbows when compared to the other requirements but there are some times when you just hit a plateau, not knowing what to do anymore. Well, don't worry as this is natural, especially in the situation when you're online and can't go anywhere else except for the comfort of your home. If this does happen, come back to this post as I will give you some ideas that me and my peers have done to overcome this challenge.

Creativity is the easiest one for me, for instance, what I did for my Creativity is that I drew through a time span of 5 days challenging myself to sketch on an artwork I want to draw and finishing that artwork by the end of the 5th day. Activity is a little harder as you might have to go out and do stuff. However, if going out is not an option for you, then challenge yourself to find ways to workout in your house, or make goals to reach a certain distance on your treadmill or other machines. For service, I advise that if you can’t go out, join an after school program and write about the contribution you made.

This being said, the most worrisome out of the bunch is the CAS project. This is because things will not always go as planned as there might be unexpected circumstances. The key thing when that happens is to adapt, plan out what seems to be the most realistic goal in your situation. The Green Teens for instance have adapted and thought of a project where they would record and reflect on the problems regarding the carbon emissions that are ruining the environment.

PS. quick tip don't procrastinate
